This story makes me love the Girl Scouts even more. And did you hear they’re quitting using palm oil for their cookies? If we didn’t already have so much in our busy week, we would join up right away.

Things I Love Thursday

This week I’m loving…

Halloween! Nothing like an amazing trunk or treat to get you into the spirit. The best costume I saw was “Little Dead Riding Hood,” which was supremely evil and well played. The tween even gave me a perfect in-character glare that I had to compliment!

Seeing my mom well. She’s been ill for a couple of weeks and finally seeing her with some color and a bit of spring in her step made me breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Allergy meds! Thanks to my BFF, I am well supplied and getting better… I think. Ask me again tomorrow. I’ve also gone through six boxes of tea and two containers of honey, not to mention the stock I should purchase in Kleenex…

Wood Sprite’s birthday party photos. My husband did an excellent job, especially considering that our camera usually doesn’t work well. Her presents also went over well; she LOVES her tiny Totoro and her custom Diego rescue pack. We had 40 guests in all, and I am jokingly using that as my proof that “homeschoolers have social lives!” 😉

Late girls’ nights with Wood Sprite. Now that my husband is working early morning shifts and going to bed early, the two of us have spent a couple of nights staying up late reading, doing experiments or craft projects, and generally having a good time.

Making lemonade out of lemons. Not literally; I think my positivity is slowly returning after such a difficult year. Things are still so tight around here, and we’ve had to cancel and cut back like nobody’s business, but I have a good feeling that things are going to start being okay soon…

This will be my last week doing songs of the day for Denver Music; feel free to keep visiting to hear about more local artists from the new host!

Things I Love Thursday

Today my little wood sprite turns six, and the thing I’m loving most is that she’s come so far and that she’s in my life. She’s my favorite person, my favorite thing I’ve ever done, and I am so blessed to have her. Here is what I wrote about her on Facebook:

Six years ago today, I had an emergency C-section three months early with a 1-pound baby I’d been in love with long before she was born. This little wood sprite surpassed all odds, ethereally, calmly developing as we all worried and waited, embodying her name even in infancy… Today she’s a pint-sized sage, my tangible proof that miracles do happen, that love and trust are powerful magic, and that every moment is a gift. Happy birthday, Sagean Eva-Marie, my tiny dancer, my viking with the moon eyes. ♥

This week, I’m also loving…
