Monday’s Music

My sister recently played Macklemore all the way to my parents’ house during a trip and I must say, I’ve fallen in love. Here is a gorgeous song that we listened to, “Same Love.” I am so pleased that Mary Lambert is also part of this song.

This week I am working out of my NEW planner! That alone has me super stoked, even if our heat’s still not working, the transmission is still not fixed, WS’s eczema is acting up, I’m still stressed to my eyeballs… 2016 is going to be a wonderful year! 😉

With so many weird things going on this week (Wood Sprite ill again, Indy with an eye injury, our transmission out and much more…) I don’t have as much to share as usual. Nevertheless, here’s what I’ve got!

Things I Love Thursday

I'm a little obsessed with The Force Awakens this week.
I’m a little obsessed with The Force Awakens this week.

I am swamped up to my ears with things to do before we leave town, so I am listing a few quick things I love this week!

Leaving for vacation! Three days off, tech-free, with my family, a hotel and the children’s museum? Yes, please!

Seattle sports. Really? I’m a baseball girl (CARRRRRDS!), but now that I’ve been covering hockey and soccer I am suddenly invested. Go Birds! Go Rave Green!

Everything The Force Awakens. I had goosebumps today watching clips, trailers, interviews… I cannot WAIT to see this movie.

Wood Sprite’s sense of humor. She just took off her headphones and remarked, out of the blue, “Why don’t they just throw Rumpelstiltskin’s dagger over the town line? They could just toss it over and be like, ‘Well, that shit is gone.'” I laughed SO hard.

Seeing my buddies this week. Between two field trips I was able to see most of my friends and it was really nice to get to talk to them a bit!

Snuggling with the dogs. I’ve been pretty down lately but somehow animal snuggles seem to help.

Wood Sprite’s creativity. It is amped up so much when she’s not playing Minecraft for hours on end!

The Tuesday Currents

Cleo says that vacation started already.
Cleo says that vacation started already.

Rocking to… Nothing. Wood Sprite broke my headphones. 😦

Drinking… Cold, cold water

Reading… Trigger Warning: Short Fiction and Disturbances by Neil Gaiman

Writing… Seattle Sports Insider articles, Q&A articles, chat tests, guest blogs, book promos, epic e-mails, short stories

Watching… Once Upon a Time (Whaaaaat just happened?!)

Planning… Our trip to Indianapolis this weekend! Can’t wait to stay in a hotel for two days and see the Children’s Museum again!

Making… Resolutions to stop putting other people before my own family. It’s not a New Year’s one, either. It goes into effect immediately. No more moving our plans to accommodate other people with few exceptions, giving up family time, or working an incomprehensible schedule.

Wanting… Get everything done so we can go! I’m having trouble deciding what books to bring… Sigh. It might only be three days, with two of those partly spent driving, but it’s a break we are all excited about.

Monday’s Music

David Bowie’s “Life on Mars” is stuck in my head, so it’s what we’re going with this week. Blame American Horror Story season 4, which we just finished watching (and sadly did not enjoy nearly as much as the previous three seasons).

Last week was a mess of hectic flurry, and this one is so similar that I just feel like hiding under a blanket. Indy’s birthday is tomorrow, but this week we also have a conservation field trip, a pottery painting party, Scouts, book club, bowling league, a trip to the history museum… I already know that we probably will have to cut something. Plus, my book is coming out, we have an out-of-state trip (which we may cancel, depending on a few things happening here)… So I think this song is probably even more appropriate than I thought!

For some perspective, I’ve barely written in my journal this fall and these quick Monday posts are a better chronicle than my spiral-bound book. That’s just wrong. And it demonstrates how I’m feeling, since I get pretty bleak when I don’t pour myself into that thing at least twice a week. I suppose I’m off to do that now!
