The Tuesday Currents

Iron ThroneCurrently…

Rocking to… the Moana soundtrack. I love it so much! The movie was also fantastic.

Laughing about… making Wood Sprite and her best friend crack up with Stranger Things jokes.

Drinking… coffee

Reading… article and book research.

Writing… catching up on last week’s stuff.

Planning… Indy’s birthday, weekends off.

Making… snowflakes with Wood Sprite. Memories. A Yule explosion in the living room. More coffee. Birthday presents for Indy. This Iron Throne was for Valentine’s Day… WS and I are making something a little more interactive for his birthday!

Wanting... More time off with my family! Thanksgiving weekend was amazing, even if Wood Sprite was sick during some of it.

Monday’s Music

It’s everybody’s most hated holiday song… but it’s my favorite! Feel free to turn it up to dance with me. After a weekend off, decorating the house, lost of good family time with Indy and Wood Sprite, some time with my sister and her new baby, and plenty of sleep, I am definitely feeling the holiday spirit. I hope you’re equally as excited about something this week.

Things I Love Thursday

“Beware the barrenness of a busy life.” –Socrates

When Sugar was a tiny thing, I used to carry her around the house with me while I did chores. We tamed the whole litter but she was my baby.
When Sugar was a tiny thing, I used to carry her around the house with me while I did chores. We tamed the whole litter but she was my baby.

This week a friend of mine admitted that she was struggling with her busy life. She relinquished a few of her duties and committed to spending more time on herself and her family and I’m so happy for her. I’ve been in her shoes several times and every time I empty my plate I seem to fill it back up again a year or two later. Continue reading Things I Love Thursday

Cleo and She-Ra say all we need is love. Or maybe hygiene. I'm not quite sure. I don't speak dog or cat.

Currently…

Rocking to… the sound of the dishwasher.

Laughing about… Wood Sprite’s ventriloquism.

Drinking… tea

Reading… my almost-there draft; too much Internetz.

Writing… finishing my holiday book, then five pot articles, then two Harry Potter pieces… and a bunch of protest letters in between.

Planning… a possible movie date with friends, various logistics,  distribution of Girl Scouts fall product, 4-H archery training, holidays.

Making… cool new shelves out of scrap wood for our family notice corner, a re-arranged living room and laundry room.

Wanting... A time machine. I am sure a lot of people are wanting one this week.

Your Favorite (Or Least Favorite) Storm X-Men Moments

My desk window border features a couple of Storm stickers.

What is it about my favorite X-Men and all the wild and wacky things they do? When characters can expose their vulnerabilities, make mistakes and continue growing it definitely makes for the best stories. Here are some of Storm’s best stories.

Things I Love Thursday

I votedToday I love the fire in my belly.

I love that instead of feeling hopeless, I feel ready to keep fighting. Instead of feeling sick of politics, I’m already looking at midterms. I think I didn’t need the time to grieve because even though I had hoped with all my heart that I’d be wrong, I knew this was coming. I’ve known it since every letter, every phone call, every moment I’ve worked for growth in my own state landed on deaf ears during the last two years. I think I did all my grieving when the Stand Your Ground laws passed.

I love that I have the ability to be a safe space for the many people who DO feel scared, who are threatened right now and could use all the support they can get. I love that I’m a part of a community working to help keep people safe and to help not only preserve the strides we’ve made but keep moving forward even in this sludge.

I love my country.

Rocking to… Bonnie Tyler ❤

Laughing about… The way my cats sleep. I just sent this pic to Indy (he’s still at work) and he texted back, “Is he dead?” I replied, “I don’t think so. His ear just twitched!”

Drinking… Water. It’s a big day! Gotta stay hydrated.

Reading… Proposed amendment details, old journals, inspiring blogs, Walking Dead comics.

Writing… I’m catching up and trying to get ahead so I can take this weekend off for my birthday!  I have an X-Men piece that I’m finishing up (finding pics for this one is turning my hair as white as Storm’s…), some Harry Potter articles percolating, several Ganja pieces and of course, Visions of Sugarplum. Heath is NOT cooperating, but then again, when have you ever heard of a Cyclops cooperating?

Watching… Indy and I watched some Modern Family and American Horror Story on Sunday morning. We’re trying to make that a habit, no matter how busy we are. We miss our pizza and Netflix in bed!

Planning… To hand out cookies and cocoa to voters today! A date with Indy Friday night! A weekend of origami, drawing, karaoke, bullet journaling and hopefully something delicious… Brazilian food? Sugary coffee drinks? 5 Star burgers? Birthday cake truffles from the Blue Owl Sweet Shop? We’ll see what Indy has planned! Any of these would be awesome.

Making… An electoral college map to use with Wood Sprite today, lists, birthday plans with one of my besties, my 2017 planner (it’s done!), cat retreat boxes (Wood Sprite and I are planning on making some cool designs this weekend), DIY games courtesy of The Dating Diva, a cleaner house with less clutter (I pitched a lot in a burst of post-Halloween cleaning), natural disaster emergency supply kits (well, mostly just water jugs this week) and maybe some homemade dog and chicken treats this weekend.

Wanting… more notice when Indy has to work late or overtime; election results I can celebrate; better focus; a magical personal smoothie maker; a sweet cream nariño iced coffee.
